The 1990 drama starring Julia Roberts and Patrick Bergin featured a 3,000-foot beach house built specifically for the film.
The house, which was constructed on Shell Island at the north end of Wrightsville Beach overlooking Mason Inlet, was demolished after filming wrapped.
The production later donated lumber from the set to a Habitat for Humanity project in South Carolina.

The 3000 square foot “house” was actually only a shell of a movie set built just north of the Shell Island resort…the weekend following the filming’s wrap, a large storm blew through the area, sending portions of the building’s structure up and down the beach and into Mason’s Inlet. Crews spent over a week cleaning up the debris. The cute little Victorian house she ended up fleeing to in the movie is still located in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
