Q. Was the Military Cutoff tree planting put out to bid? If so, how can a local company be included? It’s a shame that a local company couldn’t have done this planting. We have plenty of well-qualified companies in our community.

A. The project was placed out to bid and was advertised on the N.C. Department of Transportation website, “where all pre-qualified companies can review and bid accordingly,” said Joseph Chance, an engineer with NCDOT’s Roadside Environmental Unit.

“Several local companies placed a bid on this project and seven other landscape projects where three local companies placed the lowest bid and were awarded contracts,” Chance said.
