Are there alligators in the Smith Creek Park Pond?

Nope. According to Andy Johnson, parks manager for New Hanover County, an alligator was spotted while the park was being constructed, but none have been seen since it opened roughly a year ago.

“There were reports of a small or baby alligator, so we put signs up to the educate the public about the possibility,” he said. “But there have not been any reports or sightings since.”

Why is there a 3-foot-long alligator in the retention pond behind Sam’s Club?

Are there really alligators in Greenfield Lake?

Are there gators in White Lake or Lake Waccamaw?
