Why is there no crosswalk or crosswalk signal at Oleander and College?

Q. Why is there no crosswalk or crosswalk signal at Oleander and College? Trader Joes did not even add a sidewalk to the curb, so I am guessing pedestrians are encouraged to cross elsewhere.

A. Adding a crosswalk is not Trader Joes’ responsibility, said Mike Kozlosky, executive director of the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Kozlosky said the MPO and N.C. DOT are planning to add a crosswalk to the intersection as part of the next resurfacing project.

Trader Joe’s did add a sidewalk bordering both the College and Oleander sides of its parking lot.

The question about the sidewalk was related to the fact that the sidewalk Trader Joes installed did not go to the crosswalk curbing. It did install a sidewalk but you must walk on grass to cross the street. The curb cut allows for handicapped access and since there is no sidewalk connecting to the curb, it appears the plan for installing the sidewalk is lacking. It appears Mike Kozlosky did not read or understand the question.
