Q. How much will NHRMC pay to convert to electronic medical records, and how does this compare to other hospitals’ costs for conversion to EMR?
A. New Hanover Regional Medical Center, a hospital with about 5,000 employees, this year spent $56 million to switch to an electronic medical records system known as Epic.
WakeMed Health & Hospitals, which has about 8,300 employees, recently said it will invest about $100 million over five years on a similar system from Epic.
