Q: Is the pine forest logging on the south side of Eastwood Road associated with Autumn Hall? What are they planning on building there?
Mike Brown, Project Manager for Capefear Commercial, states the property does belong to the Trask family and that the pine logging is being done for several reasons.
The main reason is that the current logging is part of a Timber Management Plan that has been going on for decades. According to that plan ,it was time for that section to be completed.
A second reason was for aesthetic reasons, wanting thin out the under brush to clear up the woods and make them look better.
And lastly it was done for safety. Trespassers have been living in the woods and since the Cross City Trail runs throughout that property it was deemed wise to thin out the woods in order to give people a better view of their surroundings.
According to Mr. Brown, long term plans do include developing that area, however, there are no current plans to build anything there as of this time.
