UPDATE: Although this post from October 2012 says the Soapbox won’t be closing anytime soon, the owners announced on June 27, 2013, that it will be closing.
EARLIER ANSWER: Definitely not, said a manager of the Soapbox Laundro-Lounge, which has been doing business for 10 years at 225 W. Front St.
“That’s absolutely 100 percent false,” said Joe Jones.
The reader may have been misled by a “for sale” sign in the front window of the business. The building owners may be considering selling the property, but that won’t affect the future of the popular entertainment venue, Jones said.
“We have an extremely long-term lease. The Soapbox is not closing any time in the foreseeable future,” he said. “We’re working harder than ever to make it an institution for the community and bring more and better live music and expand our facilities. We’re getting better every day.”
