Question: Does the Department of Transportation plan to extend the center guard rail along the Martin Luther King Parkway at Kerr Avenue from where it ends near Creekwood?
The guardrail that was installed on MLK recently was done “as a high hazard elimination project,” said Coke Gray, NCDOT Cape Fear regional traffic safety engineer.
The project was done to address cross-median crashes “on freeway facilities with full control of access,” Gray said.
“The project limits stopped at the location below because there was no pattern of cross-median crashes from there towards Kerr Avenue. I do not know of any plans for additional guardrail to be installed along MLK in the near future,” he said.
