Has any Southeastern North Carolina city ever de-annexed a portion of its boundaries?

At least one municipality in Southeastern North Carolina has shrunk.

In 2001, the N.C. General Assembly deannexed around 2,000 acres of undeveloped land that had been in the town of Belville.

In 2005, the General Assembly again removed land from Belville, though that parcel was only about two acres.
