Who is Cape Fear River Watch?

Q Who is Cape Fear River Watch? What do they do? How are they funded?

A. Cape Fear River Watch is a 501c3 grassroots environmental nonprofit based in Wilmington and founded in 1994. The group’s mission, according to its website, is to protect and improve the water quality of the lower Cape Fear River Basin through education, advocacy and action, which includes things like monthly seminars, fish-tagging studies and river clean-ups, among others.

The nonprofit has five employees and is funded via private grants, fundraisers and membership dues. Currently, the group has more than 500 members; dues are $25 for individuals and $50 for families.
