What happened to Heck of a Peck, the oyster bar that was on Masonboro Loop Road?

Whiskey Creek Sports Pub now operates in the space that once housed Heck of a Peck. Photo by Judy Royal.

Heck of a Peck opened in 2000 in Masonboro Station at 4039 Masonboro Loop Road. It closed nearly a decade later following the closing of five-year-old neighboring eatery Dan’s Mason Bistro.

Whiskey Creek Sports Pub opened in the Heck of a Peck space in late 2009 and remains there, while next door a sushi restaurant called Tamashii recently took up shop after the previous tenant, Sunset Bistro, shut its doors.

Why did the O’Charley’s restaurant close at the Monkey Junction location?

Are there any Calabash-style diners in Wilmington?
