How many murders have occurred in Creekwood housing community?

Brian Freskos

Q. What is the total number of murders that have occurred in Creekwood housing community since its construction?

A. Fourteen people have been murdered in the Creekwood public housing community since 1991, according to Barry Coburn, the Wilmington Police Department’s crime analyst.

While the Creekwood neighborhood was constructed in 1972, the police department does not have data dating back that far.

Creekwood consists of brick apartment blocks and the neighborhood is currently undergoing renovations that public housing officials hope will improve safety as well as the quality of life for residents there.

The most recent murder in that community occurred on July 27, when 32-year-old Brian Grant was shot dead in the doorway of 916 N. 30th St. Police have charged 35-year-old Nashid Porter with the killing.
