Why no work on Market Street near signs warning of unmarked pavement?

Julian March

Q. There are road construction signs all along Market Street from the YMCA to Eastwood Road some say unmarked pavement some say uneven pavement. These signs have been there since October last year and still no work. Do you know why?

The signs are related to the resurfacing of Market Street, as reported in the July 2nd edition of the StarNews.

The signs were put up last fall and covered, explained Kerry Cross, the N.C. Department of Transportation engineer overseeing the project.

The work was delayed when the DOT and the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority altered the scope of the work. During that time, the sign covers deteriorated, Cross said.

Why did DOT put up poles on Market Street near Kerr Avenue rather than a median?

How does the N.C. DOT determine which roads require repaving?
