Q. Recently attended a concert at Airlie Gardens and could not find any recycling receptacles. Do they have a recycling program at Airlie?

A. Jim McDaniel, director of parks and gardens, said the Airlie Gardens does have a recycling program.

Around the lawn, there are four separate recycling sites, each containing receptacles for glass, cans and plastics. He said they also set out an additional twelve containers around the site.

For special events, the staff also sets up additional recycling receptacles. When emptying the regular trash cans, the staff check to make sure there are no recyclables in there by mistake.

“We recycle as much as we can,” McDaniel said.

Why did New Hanover Regional Medical Center remove the recycling bins?
