Q. There is a rumor going around that Titan, as a show of good faith and ease concerns, is building a developement to house management families adjacent to the plant. Is this true? Are they that unconcerned about the air quality?

A. The Titan America cement plant proposed to be built in Castle Hayne has been the subject of debates about air quality and impact to the environment. Opposition groups have launched campaigns trying to prevent the cement plant from coming to the area, while supporters say the plant could bring hundreds of job and economic activity to the area.

Many questions still exist as the company moves through the process of obtaining necessary permits, but what about a rumor that Titan America – parent company to Carolinas Cement Co. – will build housing adjacent to the plant for management and other employees?

There’s a short answer to this question: No, according to Bob Odom, general manager of Carolinas Cement Co.
