Tony Caudle, Wilmington’s deputy city manager, was formerly town manager in Wrightsville Beach and Topsail Beach.

Here’s a press release on Caudle’s hiring from the city’s website:

Tony Caudle, current town manager of Black Mountain, NC, has been selected as the new deputy city manager, effective August 4. Caudle replaces former Deputy City Manager Mary Ann Hinshaw, who retired in February.

A native of Wilmington, Caudle has served in local government for 26 years, including 14 years at the helm of two coastal communities. He served as town manager of Wrightsville Beach from 1991-2000 and town manager of Topsail Beach from 1986-1991.

Caudle earned a masters degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

“I am excited to be returning to the coast and to my home town,” said Caudle. “I look forward to this new challenge and being a part of this growing community.”

City Manager Sterling Cheatham says Caudle will bring valuable experience to the city. “Tony’s past work in coastal areas, along with his background in planning, are just some of the reasons we are excited he has accepted the offer to come to Wilmington. He will be a great asset to our management team,” Cheatham said.
