Question: I would love to see new lines painted on the road going in to going into Walmart and Lowe’s Hardware store in Monkey Junction. Can citizens request new lines be painted? How?
Answer:
The road is private, so a government agency would not paint new lines. All the roadways within the shopping centers are privately owned and operated, said Don Bennett, the traffic engineer for the city of Wilmington. The private owners are responsible for maintenance of signs, markings and other traffic control devices, Bennett said.
Chris O’Keefe, New Hanover County’s planning director, recommended contacting directly the businesses adjacent to the places you would like relined about the complaint.
