Who maintains the power poles on South College Road between 17th Street and Monkey Junction?

Here’s the full question:

The tall power poles that run down the right side of south college road between 17th street ext. and Monkey Junction are quite an eyesore, rusty looking and appears  that the paint is peeling off. Who would be responsible for maintaining these poles?

And the answer:

Progress Energy owns the line, according to Jeff Brooks, a spokesman for the company.

“The exposure to salt air typically found in coastal locations can sometimes accelerate paint corrosion and other cosmetic aspects of our poles,” Brooks said via email. “Nevertheless, the poles remain structurally sound and continue to operate effectively.”
