The utility company was installing a new underground transmission line in February 2012 along River Road in New Hanover County, according to Jeff Brooks, a Progress Energy spokesman.
“It’s needed to help address growth in the Wilmington area and minimize disruptions in the future,” he said. “We haven’t had any disruptions, but we want to continue to keep pace with growth.”
Brooks said the project will cost about $19 million and that the new line should be in service by early 2013.
