Breanne Gurley and Kevin Hatcher were the first couple married at the Brooklyn Arts Center. They were photographed by Derick and Christy Photography of Wilmington.
Richard Lieder, manager at Brooklyn Arts Center, said that, as of February 2012, the space has been the site of more than 30 weddings since the renovated historic building reopened at Campbell and North Fourth streets in 2011.
Lieder said he has booked about 35 weddings for 2012, and most Saturdays are booked. There may be a stray summer Saturday still available, but spring and fall are booked for Saturdays, he said.
“A BAC wedding is impressively romantic and historic,” he said. “It’s beautiful beyond words.”

Tell everyone to be sure to check out the “Bre Gurley Steps” plaque on the steps that now lead to the courtyard. The BAC installed those steps just because Bre was concerned about having to come into the courtyard from some small side steps. BAC attached the brass plaque on one of the step risers in her honor. What a beautiful wedding and reception it was! And what a beautiful couple….they look like Barbie and Ken.
