New Hanover County rules bar the use of construction machinery and chainsaws from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day, said Chris O’Keefe, New Hanover County planning director.
Wilmington regulates construction noise levels by decibel and time of day.
In residential areas, noise cannot exceed 65 decibels – dB(A) – from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. or 55 dB(A) between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The daytime level remains in effect until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
