Why doesn’t Costco have a sign on Market Street?

Costco was supposed to get a sign up along Market Street and College Road as part of a larger development, said Wilmington Costco general manager Deb Meyer.

Costco was to be the anchor for the development, which has been stalled for the last five years and has been sold to another company, she said.

Meyer said she has heard of other businesses that were to locate in the empty field by the Costco, but assumes that the bad economy has put a damper on further development.

“It is a headache for us,” Meyer said. She added that at first the store’s address – 5351 Gingerwood Drive, Wilmington [Map this] – was not even on GPS.
