Reader Rory Pender is looking for information about a man who used to sell flowers in downtown Wilmington.
Here’s Pender’s full question:
“Are there any readers who might know about an African-American gentleman who sold flowers from a baby stroller downtown and always wore a suit and tie? This was around 1965 to 1967. He went by the name of Dan, I think. I used to buy flowers from him to take to my mom. Does anyone know his name or what happened to him?”
If you can help, leave a comment with information below.

There was a woman who sold flowers during the war and afterwards around the Front and Orange st and Dock St. I sold papers on the street then. We use to call her Flower Girl. She was always nice to us paper boys and when she died, she left a lot of money.I read the the paper every dayto find out what is ahppening in the Port City. I joined the Navy in 53 from there and now retired a long time up in MA.
I have a photo of my mom in front of Wilmington P.O. ON FRONT ST.I wonder who may have taken that photo!Don,t know what year it was.
