The owner of W51CW-D is TV Band Service LLC. Channel 51 was the former home of Trinity Broadcasting Network from 1999 until 2010.
TV Band Service is a Wilmington-based Federal Communications Commission experimental licensee that owns other TV stations in the state and nation. The company has no major immediate plans for the station, but may broadcast some public safety and service announcements in the near future, said President Bill Seiz.
Channel 51 is not related to TV Band Service’s plans for testing “TV white spaces,” the unused television frequencies resulting from the 2008 transition from analog to digital transmission of TV broadcasts, Seiz added.

Why not broadcast the CW television network since so many of their shows were made here like Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill. It would be great if those of us not on cable could watch the CW network over the air. Looks like they could make some money on it since Wilmington does not have a CW television station.
