The Cambridge Village senior housing development planned for 12 acres near the intersection of Eastwood and Military Cutoff roads is under review by city staff, said Ron Satterfield, Wilmington planning manager.

“Once the final review is complete, the project will be released for construction,” he said.

The complex, proposed by Oliver Development of Raleigh, is planned for 250 independent-living units in two four-story wings connected to a 20,000-square-foot wellness center.

In March 2011, the Wilmington Planning Commission gave conditional approval to rezoning the parcel to multifamily from single-family.

In April 2011, the commission submitted its recommendations to the Wilmington City Council.

“It is my understanding that staff is waiting for the developer’s engineer to submit the final plans,” Satterfield said. “We do not know their timetable.”
