Cape Fear Community College has two decks in the downtown vicinity.

The Union Station parking deck will have about 1,200 spaces and cost $20 million, according to CFCC spokesman David Hardin. The deck is under construction and expected to be completed in early spring 2012.

Money for that project was procured through a $164 million New Hanover County bond referendum approved in 2008.

The Nutt Street parking deck, completed in May 2010, has 390 parking spaces including eight spaces for handicapped parking. The project cost $9.6 million, Hardin said, and was funded by a statewide bond referendum in 2000.
