There is a standard-size New Hanover County sign at the county line, but the county requested a larger welcome sign “so that they could add their logo on it,” said Rod Wyatt, N.C. Department of Transportation Division 3 traffic engineer.
“This sign was too large to put at the bridge approach so it had to be relocated. Due to the bridge decks, the off-ramp, and the on-ramp from Holly Shelter Road that was the best location for the over-sized sign,” Wyatt said.
