What is going in the old Porters Neck Hardware Store?

Judy Royal

The building at 8006 Market St., Wilmington [Map this], while used for retail purposes since it was built in 2000 until earlier this year, will not be housing another store. It’s now the office for Osprey Global Solutions, the Wilmington-based consulting service of former PPD CEO David Grange. Osprey provides life-support medical, logistics and construction, as well as security, training and business intelligence services, according to its website.

According to New Hanover County records, a building permit issued on June 22, 2011, granted permission for approximately $20,000 worth of remodeling work that included putting up partitions and cubicles in 4,000 square feet of the building. The revisions and change from mercantile to business use did not affect the property’s zoning, the records show.

Looks like their sign recently got destroyed so either someone was a terrible driver or they were not happy with the new tenant. Ok, its Wilmington so I’m going with terrible driver.

Why the locked chain link fence around the parking lot, and the covered windows and doors?
