How much of Ogden Park will the Military Cutoff extension project destroy?

Jim McDaniel, director of New Hanover County Parks, Gardens, and Senior Resources, said the Military Cutoff Extension will not directly affect the facilities at Ogden Park. Ogden Park is actually made up of two segments. The tennis courts, soccer/football fields and picnic area are at 615 Ogden Park Drive, Wilmington [Map this], adjacent to Eaton Elementary School off Gordon Road. The lighted baseball and softball fields are at 225 Ogden Park Drive, Wilmington [Map this], just off Market Street. In between is undeveloped land owned by New Hanover County. The two segments are connected by Ogden Park Drive.

Two of the three proposed routes, B and C, go through the undeveloped county land between the two segments of Ogden Park. The third proposed route, A, would run west of Eaton Elementary School and the Ogden Park facilities at 615 Ogden Park Drive. Neither route would directly intersect with Ogden Park land.

The proposed Military Cutoff extension is currently not funded and it is uncertain when it might actually be built.
