An alligator rests in the shallows along Plantation Road in Orton Pond in September 2008. (StarNews file photo)
Reader Teresa wrote to ask about the fate of Buster, the big alligator that for 50 years or more was seen at Orton Plantation. She said she had been told Buster had been killed at the access road to Brunswick Town and Orton Pond in the spring of 2011.

I don’t know if it’s Buster or not..but we saw a HUGE alligator right by the cement culvert on the road to the Fort about three weeks ago…several others stopped there saw him also.
He looked to be about 10 to 12 foot long and HUNGRY!
I’m not sure if it is “Buster” but there is still a very large alligator in that pond. Now that is gotten a little cooler he may not be seen as much; however, he was there a few weeks back. Any given Sunday you can find several cars there in the afternoon watching him near the shore.
Didn’t ask his name..but we saw him in late May….He is really BIG
Saw a Large Alligator that you may be referring to back in June. There were a few small gators with him too. looked like three juveniles. The largest of the gators is about 11-12 feet long.
