You might be thinking of the local children’s shows “Kiddie Time” or “Katy’s Cabin,” two shows hosted by Katherine Godwin. “Kiddie Time” started in 1954. Godwin, who still lives in Wilmington, said in an October 2011 interview that possibly both of the shows contained advertisements for Sun Drop the beverage, which might be where the questioner got the name “Sun Drop Show.”
A “Getting to Know You” feature written by Leah Kohlenberg for the StarNews in 1993 described how Godwin connected with children on her shows for about 10 years.
“With her ‘magic mirror,’ she looked at children in her television viewing audience, warning them to brush their teeth, clean up their rooms and stop biting their nails. (Parents supplied her the names and irritating habits of their children),” Kohlenberg wrote. “She read kids stories, taught arts and crafts and invited local children on the show that aired 30 minutes a day, five days a week.”
