Why do they keep tearing up Racine Drive and will they ever repave it?

The city plans to study all streets to determine which will be repaired.

Several repairs have been made to the road in recent months, city of Wilmington spokeswoman Malissa Talbert said.

“The lack of funding for repaving causes more potholes (related) overtime, which is what is happening in this area. The city is trying to alleviate the worst potholes and conditions with very limited dollars and repaving of Racine Drive is not scheduled at this time,” Talbert said.

Talbert said that to ensure limited dollars are used “as efficiently as possible,” the city is preparing to conduct a review of the condition of all streets in the city.

Those most in need of repair will be identified, Talbert said.

The city will then “prioritize the use of the limited dollars available accordingly.”

“A determination about repairs of Racine and other roads will be made after the review is completed,” Talbert said.
