How much does the school district make from a church that uses school facilities?

Bill Hance, an assistant superintendent with New Hanover County Schools, said fees are determined by event and time.

“As an example, assuming they are a nonprofit entity, if a church requested to use the auditorium at a school for two hours, they would be assessed a space fee of $25 per hour as well as a staff fee of $35 per hour,” Hance said. “Additionally, depending on the nature of their event, they may be assessed two additional staff fee hours beyond their request time. These additional hours are sometimes necessary to allow a (school) employee time to prepare for the event and clean up afterwards. If they wanted to utilize other areas of the building as well, additional space fees would apply.”
