The Wilmington International Airport doesn’t have a dedicated area for passengers who might take two wheels to the airport to store their bikes.
“It’s just something we don’t see a lot, maybe one or two times a year,” said airport Operations Director Gary Broughton.
But if someone does — and Broughton said the airport doesn’t want to discourage anyone from doing so, they’re asked to chain their bikes to a pole in the parking lot near the payment booths so an attendant can keep an eye on it.
He added that some employees have in the past, primarily during the summer, ridden their bikes to work.
But they usually store their bikes in back rooms, away from public areas, inside the airport.
