How can I see all the 911 calls made in my neighborhood?

Mike Voorheis

Finding the basic information gathered from a 911 phone call is pretty straightforward. Call New Hanover County Emergency Management/911 at (910) 798-6920, and they will tell you how to get a form to fill out.

You’ll need a street name and approximate date of event to get started. Lynn Lancaster of the Emergency Management/911 office said more extensive searches can be performed, but an entire neighborhood search would be time-consuming. Any requests should include specific street names, if possible.

Lancaster also said that the 911 recordings themselves are not available without a subpoena. And the 911 reports that emanate from her office are edited to exclude the names of the involved parties.

911 recorded calls can be heard simply by filing a FOIA request, rather than requiring a supoena.
