Why not do away with the parking spots along Oleander Drive between Independence Boulevard and Columbus Circle, and continue the center lane for turning?

The N.C. Department of Transportation held a public information meeting concerning parking along that section of road on March 27, 2008, when Oleander Drive was resurfaced, N.C. DOT spokeswoman Tammy Stewart said.

“It was decided that since some of the homes along this section do not have adequate parking, then the on-street parking would be maintained for residents to utilize during the morning, evening and night,” Stewart said.

Parking along that stretch is rarely ever used. The turn lane would have been a better choice.
