Whatever happened to the Bedford Fair Clothing Catalog Co. in Wilmington?

Wayne Faulkner

Bedford Fair Clothing Catalog Co. shut its operations in Wilmington in September 2009, according to a list of announced business closings kept by the N.C. Employment Security Commission. That closing – no reason was given – resulted 90 people losing their jobs.

The company, located at 421 Landmark Drive, Wilmington [Map this], was incorporated in 1998 and was based here. The brand – a subsidiary of Arizona Mail Order Co. – continues to operate online.

Arizona Mail Order also appeared on the ESC closing list the same month for Wilmington, with a stated 78 people losing their jobs. The reason given for its closing was a relocation to Pennsylvania.

Bedford Fair was described on the closing list as a clothing company, while Arizona Mail Order was described as a motor freight company.

Officials at Tucson-based Arizona Mail Order could not immediately be reached for comment.
