By state law, the room occupancy tax funds dedicated to the Wilmington Convention Center can only be used for the construction and operation of the center, city spokeswoman Malissa Talbert said.
The financial model linked to here shows the revenue received or expected coming in from the room occupancy tax until 2038, when the center will be paid off, Talbert said.
“This includes debt payments, maintenance (including housekeeping), utility costs, technology, marketing, furniture and equipment replacement, etc.,” she said.

This response by Malissa Talbert does not answer readers the question at all. In fact, it almost seems like she is answering a totally different question.
Ok Star Journalists, let’s go back to Malisssa Talbert and find out why she is dodging the question.
Has one cent of out tax dollars other than room tax gone into funding the Convention Center. AND HOW MUCH?????
LOL…wow…that answer says it all! Talk about avoiding the question.
Mr. Little, please read the question again. “Does the room occupancy tax COVER ALL COSTS…” The posted response does not answer the question at all, which is a very important one in the minds of a lot of the taxpayers here in Wilmington.
