Will the city reopen Chester Street from Cardinal Drive to St. Nicholas Road?

The Market Street Corridor plan mentions that collector streets are needed to help to alleviate traffic on Market Street, said Kaye Graybeal, director of development services for the city of Wilmington.

“There are no current plans to convert Chester … to a public street with the purchase of the (Inland Greens) golf course,” nor has conversion been discussed, Graybeal said.

Chester Street used to be open through Inland Greens. It would make sense to reopen it so parents would have access to Blair and Noble schools without having to detour around neighborhhods and use Market Street. The street once connected Cardinal Drive to St. Nicholas and since the city purchased part of Inland Greens they should look at returning the street to a public street like it once was.
