What is the equipment that was installed next to Randall Pond at Ashley Circle and Jennings Drive?

Ken Little

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is installing a dosing facility at 3707 Ashley Circle, Wilmington [Map this], as part of a “comprehensive odor and corrosion control program,” utility spokeswoman Carey Disney Ricks said.

The facility will be used to inject calcium nitrate into waste water, which limits the amount of hydrogen sulfide gas in the system, Ricks said.

“By controlling the hydrogen sulfide gas, odor and corrosion issues should be reduced,” she said.

CFPUA is installing dosing facilities at 23 locations throughout the city of Wilmington, the town of Wrightsville Beach and New Hanover County, Ricks said.
