How do I find out when and where ‘One Tree Hill’ will be filming?

Amy Hotz

When “One Tree Hill” is filming on a sound stage or in a small town in the area, the only way to know is to become friends with a crew member and ask.

But when the show is filming within the city of Wilmington, location workers must fill out a film permit application. This basically tells the city and the people who live and work in the area a show wants to film. It details what will be going on – which roads will be closed, how many police will be present, where crew and extras parking will be located, and if any explosions or other surprising effects can be expected. It also might tell you if the shoot will be interior or exterior, and how many cast members will be there (although it will not say who those cast members are).

Those permits are on file with the City of Wilmington’s Film and Media Services Office. They are required whether the show is filming on public or private property, and they must be received three to five business days before the shoot.
