Why aren’t the traffic lights on main roads between Camp Lejeune and Wilmington set to blink before 6 a.m.?

Ken Little

Until a year ago, the city of Wilmington used blinking lights during early morning hours at its intersections.

“This was changed on the state level to improve safety by maintaining consistent signal displays at all hours of the day. The city of Wilmington removed ‘late-night flash’ operation in September 2009,” city signal system management engineer Denys Vielkanowitz said.
