Shannon Moody, a spokeswoman for the N.C. State Ports Authority, said that when a state port employee is convicted of a DWI, “any legal sentencing consequences that affect key job responsibilities would be thoroughly reviewed on a case by case basis. The Authority will attempt to work with the employee to assess if key job responsibilities can be performed, making determinations on employment status at that time.” She added that the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission also would review the case to see if any disciplinary actions need to be taken.
