Have New Hanover County ‘higher-ups’ had a raise in the past 2 to 3 years?

Chris Mazzolini

New Hanover County Manager Bruce Shell said that the county’s “higher-ups” are sharing the pain with the other employees. All employees have been subject to the same furlough days over the last few years as the county has cut back to save money during the economic downturn.

This year, employees have four unpaid furlough days. Last year, it was 10.

“There’s been no raises,” Shell said. “We still haven’t gotten back to ground zero.”
