The StarNews print edition and StarNewsOnline.com differ because of how people use the different media.
On the Web, readers are looking for the most current information and breaking news. We have Web managers who work throughout the day to post stories and ensure the most up-to-date information is on the site. In the print edition, people are spending more time with individual articles and in-depth reporting.
Because of paging and space limitations in the print edition, we make daily editorial decisions about which local and national news stories we publish. On StarNewsOnline.com we don’t have the same space and time constraints. We are able to publish more local and national news in a constantly changing environment.
Another reason is that the Web and print have different sources of information. Certain stories we have permission to publish in the print edition. but are unable to put online. Also, our feed of news from the Associated Press is automated online for national and world news.
We treat the StarNews print edition and StarNewsOnline.com as two different products and strive to provide the best user experience possible in both.

I subscribe to the Raleigh newspaper online version and it is a exact reproduction of the print version. I would do the same for the Starnews is it were available.
