Why are the accesses to Autumn Hall from Clear Run barricaded closed?

Officials with the Autumn Hall development barricaded two entrances from Clear Run Drive because of some traffic safety issues, Autumn Hall Project Manager Mike Brown said. There has been one instance of drag racing and some isolated instances of traffic cutting through the development, Brown said. He said he is working with the city of Wilmington and the Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization on a plan to calm through traffic so they can reopen the entrances.

It’s likely that it will be at least 18 months before the barricades at the two entrances to Autumn Hall from Clear Run Drive are removed, Autumn Hall Project Manager Mike Brown said. Concerns from Autumn Hal homeowners about through traffic exceeding the speed limit prompted officials to block the entrances. The developers talked to the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization about possible traffic calming devices but that is a significant cost the development company will have to look at, Brown said.
Brown said the plan is to turn the development’s street over to the city. He said Autumn Hall plans to start that process in about six months and it takes about a year to complete.
