Frazier’s Pier 20 Seafood Restaurant was at 614 S. College Road, Wilmington [Map this], from 1984 to 2003. It is apparently fondly missed by a number of people, including Gene Meadows, city of Wilmington tax collector.
Meadows said the owners last paid for an annual privilege license in June 2003. The restaurant was sold later that year.
Meadows was among many local residents who ate at Pier 20.
“It was a popular place, to be in business between 1984 and 2003. They must have done something right,” Meadows said.
A favorable StarNews review in March 2003 described the eatery as “the kind of old-school fish house where the simple menu offers seafood combined any way you’d like in a fried or broiled platter alongside fries, slaw and hushpuppies.”
Robert Frazier, who paid for the last privilege license from the city, could not be located.
The property has since housed several restaurants, including The Farm House and McDaniel Farms Creamery.
