Are there plans for another drop-off daycare in Leland?

Andrew Dunn
StarNews

There are no plans for a drop-in child care center in Leland, and currently there are no such facilities in the town.

Kids At Play, now a preschool, used to offer the service – where parents can drop off their kids for a few hours at a time — but stopped about two years ago, owner Ashley Danko said.

No permits have been issued or requests made to open a new one in Leland, according to the town’s planning department.

There aren’t many drop-in day care centers anywhere in Brunswick County.

State records show that three have been registered with the N.C. Division of Child Development.

But one is Kids At Play, and the phone number listed for a second one, in Ocean Isle Beach, was not working.

Gold’s Gym in Shallotte appears to be the county’s only registered drop-in day care center, and offers the service for members and non-members.

There are several drop-in day care centers in Wilmington.
