Why is Wanda Copley allowed to make extra income from the ABC and airport boards?

New Hanover County Attorney Wanda Copley doesn’t make any extra income providing legal services for those boards. Those boards do pay the county for using the county attorney.

Copley said the county receives $12,000 per year from the Alcoholic Beverage Control board and about $15,000 annually from the Wilmington International Airport board. Those boards are both appointed by the county commissioners.

“We don’t do it for the county to make money, we do it to provide the service,” Copley said.
