How many parking tickets did Wrightsville Beach issue during the Fourth of July weekend?

Shannan Bowen

For the Fourth of July weekend in 2010, 444 parking citations were handed out to motorists in Wrightsville Beach. The breakdown is: 98 citations given Friday, July 2; 161 given Saturday, July 3; 131 on Sunday, July 4; and 54 on Monday, July 5. Citations carry various fines, depending on where the motorist is parked and the situation. The town board recently approved issuing $50 fines for any motorist who parks in an unauthorized area, such as on grass, in the town. The town contracts with Lanier Parking Solutions, a private company, to enforce parking and handle citations.
